The Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, through the Secretariat of Extension and Culture and its Film Coordination, within the framework of the Monterrey International Film Festival, paid tribute to the filmmaker Jaime Humberto Hermosillo.

The filmmaker from Aguascalientes was recognized by the UANL for his cinematographic work and his contribution to the evolution of Mexican film.

In addition to the ceremony, the tribute was composed of previous events such as the lecture he gave at the Visual Arts School and a film cycle curated by him in the Sala Fósforo ofthe Colegio Civil.

“Today in the morning I expressed my gratitude to all those who have helped me throughout my life to be happy, because I am happy doing this work, I do not know another one,» said the honoree, who mentioned the personalities who influence his work during his talk with the students of the Visual Arts School.

Juan Manuel González, founder of MIFF, Celso José Garza Acuña, Secretary of Extension and Culture of UANL, and Jesús Torres, Film Coordinator of the Secretary of Extension and Culture of UANL attended the event.

“The UANL allies with the Monterrey International Film Festival, to extend the film culture in university venues, through the screening of feature films and short films at the schools of our University,» the Secretary said.

The tribute concluded with the screening of the film Written on the Body of the Night in the Aula Magna.
